R.O.C.K. is seeking your help to provide sustainable aid—scholarships—to eleven youths for the academic year 2024-2025. This is a gift that keeps on giving.

Click below for a brief introduction to the scholarship applicants for the academic year 2024-2025. They are asking for a hand up, not handouts. Please provide a scholarship for one of these youths. Donations can be made per semester (two payments) or in full.

 Your donation will:

  • Help to educate and lift the youth out of poverty.
  • Provide hope for the youth, their families, and their communities.

 You will receive:

  • A photo of the youth you sponsored.
  • A “Thank you” letter.
  • “End-of-Semester” updates about your sponsored youth
  • The satisfaction of knowing that your contribution is making an incredible difference in the life of a youth in poverty.

Youths who receive a scholarship are required submit to R.O.C.K.:

  • Receipt from the school/college/university showing that the tuition and fees have been paid.
  • A copy of their report card at the end of each semester
  • A “Thank you” letter.

Meet Joseph

College: PYJ Polytechnic University, Liberia
Major:     BSc. – Physician Assistant
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $800.

Joseph recently completed his first year of studies at PYJ Polytechnic University in Liberia.

He is seeking a scholarship to complete his studies so that he can promote health and wellness of the needy in his village and Liberia in general. Without a scholarship he will have to drop out of college.

Joseph is very disciplined and determined to better his life and his community. Any help that is given to him will not be wasted.

Meet Susan

College: Stella Maris Polytechnic University
Major: BSc. – Engineering
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $1, 500.

Susan is very pleasant and friendly. She recently graduated high school and is eager to start college to pursue a BSc. Degree in engineering.

Her family is struggling due to the death of her father who was the main breadwinner, and her mother is now seriously sick due to a stroke.

 Susan said “Without financial help my life will be stuck. I really want to achieve my goal.”

Meet Abigail

College: Smythe University College
Major: MSc. Nursing – Midwifery
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $1,200.

Abigail previously received a scholarship from R.O.C.K. to complete her BSc. in nursing. She graduated with honors and has been volunteering in various hospitals in Liberia. She conducted health workshops in villages during COVID19.

Abigail needs a scholarship to advance her education and help more people. Her plan is to become a visiting nurse to help poor and at-risk people, especially women.

Abigail is also R.O.C.K.’s official representative in Liberia.

Meet Princess

College: United Methodist University
Major: Nursing
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $1,100.

Princess previously received a scholarship from ROCK to study nursing. In her first year her GPA was 3.5.

She is hardworking and has shown strong leadership skills. Princess is eager to continue her degree and can only do so if she gets another scholarship.

She and Susan are sisters. Their family is struggling due to the death of their father who was the main breadwinner, and their mother is now seriously sick due to a stroke.

She asks, “please help me so I can continue to excel and reach my full potential.”

Meet Timothy

College: Liberia International Christian College
Major: Agriculture
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $1,000.

Timothy said, “I want to serve my community and my country. I am a self-supporter after the death of my father. After high school I have not been able to enroll in university.”

The Agricultural Science program trains people to grow crops and raise livestock using sustainable methods. This will help to reduce Liberia’s dependence on food aid (as of 2014, 90% of Liberia’s food is imported), and it will allow farmers to feed their families and sell surplus food for profit.

Meet Hannah

College: Liberia International Christian College
Major: Business Management
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $900.

Hannah said, “I’m trying to escape poverty.”

Since graduating high school in 2019, she has not been able to continue her education. She buys and sells in the market to help herself and her poor family. Hannah is sad because she does not have money to continue her education. Her goal is to get a business degree to further her ambition of eventually owning her own company and helping to lift others out of poverty.

The Business Management program prepares community leaders to launch and manage small businesses that will help to employ local workers to help them improve their lives

Meet Cyrus

College: Licosses Teacher Training College
Major: Associate degree – Education
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $550.

Since graduating high school, Cyrus has been volunteering as an untrained teacher at the Teahplay Public School.

He loves teaching and wants to attend college to further his education so that he can become a more effective teacher and school administrator.

Cyrus loves sports and serves as the coordinator of sports at the school. His father who supported him recently died so he needs a scholarship to pursue his goals.

Meet Otis

College: Licosses Teacher Training College
Major: Bachelors – Education
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $800.

Otis said, “My passion for education has gone beyond just a career. I have a burning desire to teach and help others to better themselves.”

He is in the final year of his studies and needs a scholarship to complete his degree. Otis plans to become a teacher and a principal and wants to become the principal of the Teahplay Public School to increase the quality of education and graduation rates.

Meet Alexson

College: Licosses Teacher Training College
Major: Associate degree – Education
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $550.

Alexson is currently serving as a volunteer teacher at the Teahplay Public School. He said: “I am committed to service, although I’m not getting paid now, I want to help my people.”

Alexson is seeking a scholarship to become a trained teacher. Since graduating from high school, he has not been able to continue his education because he has no financial support.

Meet Serena

High School: Pioneers Foundation Academy
Grade: 11th Grade
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $360.

Serena is incredibly determined to graduate from high school. When she first received a scholarship, she was in the eighth grade. She has made steady progress even though she continues to struggle with life. Her boyfriend and father of her son tried to stop her from going to school, she got thrown out of her house and now lives with a friend.

Serena buys and sells slippers to support herself. She said: “Things are very hard, but my goal is to complete high school and enroll in college or university to study elementary education. I want other girls to have the same opportunity that R.O.C.K. gave me. I am so grateful may God bless you.”

Meet Shadrach

High School: Pioneers Foundation Academy
Grade: 11th Grade
Scholarship needed for 2024-2025: $360.

Shadrach said that when his mother died, he had to stop attending school because of a lack of support. He is glad that other family members have been helping him with food and clothing, however, he said he is sad that he cannot finish high school.

He is asking for a scholarship to complete high school. His goal is to study nursing so that he can help the people of his village and surrounding villages who have little or no access to healthcare.
